JULY 2011 VISIT TO BOSNIA
Our BCP project officer, Mehmood Mughal, went to the Annual Srebrenica Ceremony on the 11th of July 2011. This ceremony is held every year at the Srebrenica Memorial Centre in Potocari, a small village just outside the town of Srebrenica. On this occasion, a collective “janaaza” is held for the missing persons whose bodies have been recovered during the past year from the mass graves into which they were dumped after being killed in the Srebrenica massacre of July 1995. 613 bodies were buried on the 11th of July 2011 after having been identified by DNA techniques & blood samples from living relatives. Dua’s were also made for all the more than 8,000 victims of the massacre.
