Update on COVID 19 & Mosques

STATEMENT ON RE-OPENING OF MOSQUES

In the light of the recent government announcement that places of worship will be allowed to re-open from 15th of June for ‘individual prayers’, The Muslim Youth Foundation will remain closed.

Mosques are first and foremost used for congregational prayers. Jama’at/ congregational prayers even with a small group of people, following social distancing and other preventive measures, will not be allowed in mosques from 15th of June.

We have assessed and consulted other mosques and have come to the decision that in the interest of protecting the safety of our congregation and the wider public community it will be challenging for us to open at this time under the current government advice.

We would like to thank our community for their support, patience and understanding during this difficult time. We will continue offering online educational and welfare services, as we have done for the duration of the lockdown and we are hopeful that the Mosques will re-open in the not so distant future, Insha’Allah.

On Saturday the 27th October in heart of City of Manchester, the Muslim Youth Foundation (MYF) opened its doors and welcomed people from all backgrounds and faiths & non faiths to participate in the annual Community Open Day between 12 to 6pm.

On the day, the MYF organised many activities which included some of the following:

  • Free light refreshment table
  • Muslim Cultural Clothing table
  • Free Calligraphy design table
  • Free Henna design table

  • Free Try A Scarf table with free gift bags for visitors
  • Free Information table with free gift bags for visitors
  • Moroccan themed tent activity

The list above required detailed planning and organising and on the day we blessed with 30+ volunteers to support all the key projects in making this year’s Open Day successful.

Therefore, on behalf of the MYF Trustees and Management Team – we would like to express our sincere and heartfelt gratitude towards Allah (SWT) for allowing us all the opportunity to serve Him and provide an opportunity for our guests to visit us observe and learn something about Islam.

To this end, on the day a brother and a sister decided to accept Islam of their own free will and determination after visiting and asking many questions. We ask Allah (SWT) to preserve and protect them and us ameen.

Jazak Allah khair to all the volunteers who helped out on the open day & to all the volunteers who attended the preparation meetings in the week before the open day.

In addition, the volunteers who helped set up for the open day on the day before the open day (Friday) . This help was critical for the success of the open day, Alhamdulillah. I would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you / Jazak Allah Khair” to these volunteers as the open day could not have taken place without this magnificent & crucial help. Everybody worked very hard & a tremendous amount was achieved in just a couple of days, Alhamdulillah for them.

Also, in the background there are many silent brothers and sisters who make a big contribution but remain anonymous JazakAllah Khairan.

Finally, we ask Allah (SWT) to reward the volunteers with the best of both worlds but reserving the best reward for the day the volunteers meet Him – ameen.
JazakAllah khairan BarakAllah Feekum.
