New Muslim Group meeting Oct 4th 6:00pm-8:00pm

Pleased to announce that the New Muslim Group meeting will take place Thursday evening at The Myf with Sheikh Imtiiaz inshallah.

For those who haven’t attended the group before, it has been a vital support link for many new and old Muslims for as long as we can remember.

It’s a very beneficial course for those who want to learn more and meet people on the same journey. Very relaxed informal friendly atmosphere with a Q & A session and topics discussed with refreshments.

Please feel free to invite your friends and family along.

Try A Scarf project organised by ‘WAMY’

Asalaamualikum All praise is due to Allah (SWT) alone and peace & blessings upon the final Messenger Muhammad (PBUH). On behalf of the MYF and WAMY – I would like thank all the volunteers who sacrificed time out on their weekend to help out with Try A Scarf project organised by WAMY. Although raining throughout most part of the day, we found shelter near Boots.

We connected with many, many people who really enjoyed the experience of wearing a scarf. Many gift bags, flowers and chocolates were distributed to passers-by who were expressed gratitude and were happy to participate (as per pictures). We ask Allah to accept it from all of us and to make it a means of opening the heart and mind to the Truth and Beauty of Islam. WAMY are are organising several more projects very soon so if you want to participate or fund these projects then please get in touch.

For those who missed the opportunity, good news!!! The MYF has an Open Day next Saturday between 12-6pm. We are looking for volunteers to help on day including distributing invitation leaflets and welcoming the guests. If you can please, please contact me.

Thank you
The Myf Team

Day of Ashura 11th of October

Peace be unto you(Asalaamu’alikum),

‘Ashura’ commemorates the day that Allah saved the Children of Israel from Pharaoh.

Fasting on Muharram 10, known as the Day of ‘Ashura’, expiates for the sins of the past year. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah in 622 CE, he found that the Jews there fasted on Muharram 10 and asked them the reason for their fasting on this day. They said,” This is a blessed day. On this day Allah saved the Children of Israel from their enemy (in Egypt) and so Prophet Musa [Moses] fasted on this day giving thanks to Allah.”

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said,

“We are closer to Musa than you are.”

He fasted on that day and commanded Muslims to fast on this day. (Al-Bukhari) The following year, Allah commanded the Muslims to fast the month of Ramadan, and the fasting of ‘Ashura’ became optional. It is also reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to fast on the ninth and tenth. Ibn ‘Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah fasted on the day of ‘Ashura’ and ordered the people to fast on it. The people said, “O Messenger of Allah, it is a day that the Jews and Christians honor.” The Prophet said, “When the following year comes, Allah willing, we shall fast on the ninth.” The death of the Prophet came before the following year. (Muslim and Abu Dawud) For more on ‘Ashura’ and Muharram, please read: The Significance of Fasting the Day of ‘Ashura’ Virtues of the Month of Muharram & Fasting during It

We have a very special Aqeeqah tomorrow in the Myf on the day of Ashura at Magrib time. A lot of people will be fasting, so please join us for the Aqeeqah.

Everybody is welcome

Kind Regards
The Myf Team

Myf Open Day Review & Pics

Our open day on Saturday 26 March 2016 was a very successful event. We opened our doors to the general public, welcomed everyone to come and see our exhibitions, and learn about Islam.

We had various stalls set up for our visitors, some of these stalls were; Henna, costumes, calligraphy, face painting for children and food stalls.

Imaam, Imtiaz Hussain lead numerous mosque tours on that day for people who wanted to see the mosque and what goes on inside our centre.

There was a steady stream of visitors throughout the day, they enjoyed a nice event with us, chatting and learning more about our centre and about Islam.

We had a special appearance from the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, they were invited, but we did not expect them to turn up in a great big red fire engine.

This by far was the highlight of the day. Mr Peter Fitzpatrick and his colleagues were extremely friendly and very professional as well. We would like to thank all of them for their presence and for being with us on that day, they have yet again showed us that they can be at the heart of the community as they are always expected to be. We couldn’t thank them enough for their support.

The MYF would also like to thank each and every one who contributed to our open day, thanks to our visitors for allowing us to share this event with them. A big thanks to all our volunteers for their amazing work. The open day would not have been possible without their great support.

    Thank you…

“Allah’s Guidance” – The Journey to paradise continues @ MYF, Sundays 2-4 pm

The Journey to Paradise programme continues as usual this Sunday InshaAllah at the MYF with brother Hamza.

Over the coming weeks, brother Hamza will be going through a topic called “Allah’s Guidance” which explains the guidance that Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala has sent down in Quran and what this means to us as believers.

“Allah’s guidance” is the perfect way for Muslims to understand their Deen in a simple and interactive way, to learn, understand, and implement the guidance of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala in our lives.

Please make sure you attend and invite other revert brothers and sisters as well.

Please note: “This programme is strictly for revert brothers and sisters only”
